About Me

My name is Yolanda, and my love for sewing began at the age of five under the guidance of my grandmother. Sitting beside her, I developed a deep affection for the art of sewing. I started with hand-sewing, experimenting with different fabrics and designs, and by the age of ten, I proudly transitioned to using a sewing machine—a milestone that marked the beginning of my journey in skill building.

My mother enrolled me in sewing classes, and one of the first pieces I created was a yellow floral romper. This achievement fueled my passion for creating garments, leading me to make my own junior and senior prom dresses in high school. Sewing wasn’t just a hobby; it became an essential part of my life.

In college, I continued to sew, making bridesmaid dresses, prom outfits, and even collaborating with local designers to earn supplemental income. After graduating, I became a Family and Consumer Science teacher, specializing in both beginner and advanced sewing courses for high school students. For ten years, I dedicated myself to nurturing young talents in sewing before becoming a mother.

Although I stepped back from formal teaching to raise my children, my dedication to sewing never waned—I continued creating special pieces for them throughout their childhood. Now that my children are older, I’m thrilled to reignite my passions for teaching and sewing. I can’t wait to share my expertise with you and foster your own journey in this timeless craft.
